End of the Game by Peter Beard
If and when they ever publish Peters personal sketch/notebooks I will run out and buy them because he has such a wonderful eye for the strange and the fanciful. And this book hints t what he can do. It is also a wonderful documentation of the great elephant herds of Africa and the course of their demise. More than a coffee table book.

I Dreamed of Africa
The very moving and often mystical story of an Italian expatriate and her life and losses while living in Kenya. Ms Gallman still lives in Kenya and recently opened her house and grounds to visitors. It is a very expensive "camp." If you love the book and want to stay there, you can do so. For a price.
Maasai
Another coffee table book. But there are beautiful photographs of both Kenya and the Maasai tribes people. It is accurate and informative because the author is a Maasai.

The heart of all books on Kenya. One of most amazing stories of one woman's adventures living in Kenya. Also well known for the Academy Award winning movie of the same name. If you are heading to Kenya and have not read this you are missing out.
West With the Night
A wonderful true life tale of a young woman growing up in Kenya and later becoming a celebrated lady aviatrix. There has been some debate about whether she actually wrote the book or had considerable help from her writer husband, but it's a great story no matter who wrote it. This was made into a mini series called "Shadows on the Sun."
